- Universities are considered radiant beacons of knowledge that enlighten intellectuals and officials in charge of public and private service and production facilities in any country that values the scientific approach in planning and executing projects, as well as contributing to solving problems that hinder the progress of such projects. Furthermore, universities serve as a reference for scientific consultations that help solve the social problems accompanying the rapid development witnessed by developing countries.
- In order for universities to play an effective role in solving these problems, they must have a specialized center equipped with the necessary material and human resources to provide scientific consultations and conduct in-depth academic research and studies across various fields of knowledge.
- In recognition of the advisory and research role that Libyan universities are expected to play, the Minister of Education in the Government of National Accord issued Decision No. (243) of 2014, stipulating the establishment of a Center for Research and Consultations at the University of Gheryan, which seeks to achieve the following vision, mission, and objectives:
Vision
The Center aspires to be a leading and distinguished entity in the fields of scientific and applied research, consultancy, and training, serving as a fundamental pillar for advancing development issues at both the national and regional levels. This is achieved through activities that respond to societal needs and align with the priorities of relevant stakeholders.
Mission
The Center aims to contribute effectively to addressing societal challenges by providing specialized research, consultancy, training, and advisory services in key areas of development. It seeks to develop innovative scientific solutions and practical models characterized by high efficiency and professionalism, in line with contemporary advancements.
Goals
The Center shall pursue the following objectives:
- To direct applied research and consultancy activities within the University in alignment with development requirements and the advancement of a knowledge- based society across various fields.
- To strengthen collaboration and partnerships between the University and both the public and private sectors, and to provide research, consultancy, and training services that meet their needs in accordance with established professional standards.
- To promote and market the University’s research and consultancy services at both national and international levels.
- To attract and secure funding sources to support research and consultancy projects from governmental and private sectors, both domestically and internationally.
- To represent the University in companies and ventures established or co-founded by it, in a manner that safeguards its rights and enhances its institutional role.
- To establish specialized or joint committees with external entities across various fields (commercial, scientific, industrial, agricultural, engineering, legal, etc.) to explore areas of cooperation and develop actionable plans for joint initiatives.
